GREEN HOPE FARM'S STABILIZER RED SHISO
Historically, Flower Essences have been made from flower petals stabilized in a brandy and water solution. Our Flower Essences are made from flower petals and our own artesian well water but we use a different stabilizer than brandy. Our stabilizer is made with organic Red Shiso, grown here at the farm. This is the story about why we made this switch. Every collection of Flower Essences on the planet has its own unique mission and vibrational strengths. In the fall of 1994, the vibrations of Green Hope Farm Flower Essences were strengthened by the introduction of our new stabilizer. While the Angels, Elementals, and Ascended Masters overlighting the business knew from the start that this change was a very good one, I had moments of confusion and doubt. In retrospect, I wonder how I did not immediately grasp the goodness of the change, for I now know this switch in stabilizers was a wonderful and profoundly powerful improvement in our Flower Essences. The change in stabilizers was from brandy to Red Shiso. Brandy is the standard preservative in herbal remedies. Because the potential for alcoholism is in my genetic make-up, I had always felt that the use of brandy with Flower Essences was a case of strange bedfellows. Stabilizers are used in a Flower Essence to keep them clear of negativity, yet brandy itself can be an avenue for vibrational disharmony to enter. Years ago, I was told by the Angels that someday our stabilizer would change but in the meantime to use brandy. I considered this pairing of high vibration Essences with something that could at best be described as a neutral vibration, an opportunity to detach from my prejudices. The time for the change came when agents of the New Hampshire Liquor Commission descended on Green Hope Farm in May of 1994 and announced that we were under investigation for violating the state's monopoly on the sale of alcoholic beverages. I watched burly agents encircle the farm, flash their badges and seize inventory all the while hearing the voices of Angels in my head telling me that all was well. This scene from a TV docudrama did not look like my idea of "all is well." I silently yelled to the Angels, "Didn't those men just tell us they were going to shut us down?" Part of me was able to let go and let God. There were moments when I was calm and confident that somehow this was divine order. Part of me wasn't ready to choose peace. Instead I chose to exhaust myself by pursuing political and legal solutions to solve this "problem." I bent a lot of ears asking why vanilla extract or commercial mouthwash, which are both products with a much higher alcohol content than our Essences, could be sold in New Hampshire, but we were to be shut down for selling alcohol without a liquor license. I asked a lot of people why I couldn't get this necessary liquor license but a bowling alley could. After many human doors closed, I realized this was not meant to be solved on the human level. It was clear that the state of New Hampshire was determined to pursue the protection of their monopoly and prevent us from using alcohol in our Essences. It required a visit to the farm from a very wise spiritual teacher to center me once and for all in the truth that all was unfolding in the light of the one Divine mind and that these Liquor Commission agents were taking Green Hope Farm Flower Essences further into the light as surely as were the Angels at my side. From this place of newfound serenity about whatever happened, I asked the Angels and Elementals to guide us towards an inspired solution and an alternative stabilizer to replace the brandy. In other words, I finally surrendered the situation to God. We were led to use a Japanese herb, Red Shiso, as our preservative. Of all the possible preservatives which we researched in our quest, the Angels far preferred Red Shiso. This is a stabilizer virtually unknown in the West, yet our guidance from spirit was clear. Red Shiso it would be. We launched the Red Shiso-based Flower Essences in October 1994, without knowing what your response would be. From the start, we were awed by your willingness to try the new stabilizer and be part of our evolution. In the last six years, your enthusiasm about Red Shiso has matched our enthusiasm at how well the stabilizer works. We are grateful to have been led to this beautiful plant friend. We delight in playing a part in bringing Red Shiso to the western world's attention, thus helping Red Shiso to fulfill its mission on the planet. All in all, the whole Red Shiso story has been a great reminder that fairy tales have happy endings. |

SPECIFICS ON RED SHISO Perilla frutescens

In Japanese, Shiso means purple leaf. A robust member of the mint family, Red Shiso grows into lush 3-4' high plants of deep magenta color. It is used extensively in macrobiotic food preparation, especially with umeboshi plums. Besides contributing flavor, and a distinctive red color, Red Shiso contains "perilla aldehyde", a preservative documented to have 1000 times the strength of synthetic food preservatives. Because the tremendous life force energy in Essences could lead to bacterial growth in the Essences, Red Shiso, with its active ingredient "perilla aldehyde", is a wonderful stabilizer. During the many years we have worked with Red Shiso, we have come to deeply respect its healing energies. Red Shiso, when taken into our system in any form, helps us to become "superconductors," able to easily and comfortably hold greater light energy. Red Shiso helps every part of our energy system resonate with and accommodate the higher vibrations coming to Earth. With Flower Essences in Red Shiso, you get three vibrational boosts at once. First, the Flower Essences bring their own healing vibrations. Second, the Red Shiso matrix in which the Flower Essences are stabilized amplifies the healing energies of these Flower Essences. Third, the Red Shiso does its own healing work on your energy system. The Red Shiso decoction we use is made from organic Red Shiso decocted in artesian well water mixed with a small percentage of white vinegar. Each leaf used in the decoction is carefully hand selected. Only the deepest purple leaves are used in our stabilizer. It was not until we mixed the first batch of the decoction that we grasped the full glory of this stabilizer. Not only was the decoction a lovely pink color, but its taste was pleasant enough that even our taste-testing teenagers found it palatable. More importantly, the life force of the decoction was so vibrant, clear and strong that we knew we finally had a stabilizer with as high a vibration as the Flower Essences themselves. It was a match made in Heaven. As you will see from our order blank, you can now order Red Shiso stabilizer without Flower Essences in a 2 oz. bottle and a 6 oz. bottle. This makes it possible for you to make dosage bottles with Red Shiso as your stabilizer. We have had several homeopathic practitioners ask if the Red Shiso stabilizer will interfere with homeopathic remedies. Although it is from the mint family, a substance usually to be avoided when taking homeopathic doses, it has altered its vibration in order to do its service to the planet and will not interfere with homeopathic remedies. We organically grow all the Red Shiso used in our Flower Essences here at Green Hope Farm. Karen Siske McGuire of Johnny's Selected Seeds gave us guidance during our first growing season and remains a pillar of human moral support. Each year the mandala for our field of Red Shiso has been different. Each energy matrix brings great joy and life force energy to the farm. Post-harvest, Red Shiso's bright and shining light fills the rafters of our Red Shiso building with a beautiful energy. In the fall of 1997 we developed a new way to infuse our Red Shiso decoction. We have found that this new system has improved the richness of color, taste and strength of the final decoction used to stabilize our Flower Essences. Occasionally the Red Shiso in our decoction will cling to the tip of the glass dropper of your Flower Essence. This is an edible, organic residue of Red Shiso and will not interfere with the strength and purity of your Flower Essences. |
