A YEAR IN THE GARDENS

It was a winter of winters. February, March and April bring almost daily snowstorms. The snow gets five feet deep and snow removal in people's driveways gets to be a job for bulldozers. |

The path to the office. There simply is no place to put all the snow. |
Despite having to wade through waist-high snow to collect our sap buckets, we do our small maple sugaring operation and have a very good year. |
In the greenhouse, new life begins undaunted by the snowy scene outside. It is hard to believe that these seedlings will ever find a home in the earth beneath all that snow, but they do! |

The greenhouse is also filled with more mature plants who bring us color and fragrance all winter long. Here a Gardenia in the foreground is set off by Bougainvillea in the background. |

At last the snow melts. We even take a few minutes between early spring chores to sit on the garden bench and savor this beautiful greening world. |

Daffodils fill the Arbor Garden with their indispensable early spring joy. |

After a winter inside, our St. Francis statue returns to its place in the Arbor Garden. |
